Project Execution Technical Co-Op in Multiple Locations

Schneider Electric · Nashville, United States

About the role

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Project Execution Technical Co-Op to join our Project Execution Team. In this role, you will work directly alongside senior Technical Leads to support the execution of a broad portfolio of power management products and services—including switchgear, digital relaying, power system automation, circuit breakers, and engineering design review.

This internship offers hands-on experience in bridge-building between engineering, project management, and client interaction. You will gain direct exposure to customer-facing technical support, cross-functional stakeholder coordination, technical query management, and the overall execution lifecycle of complex electrical power projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Technical Lead in validating project scope, technical requirements, interfaces, and customer deliverables across the electrical power management portfolio.
  • Track, organize, and follow up on technical queries (RFIs) from project managers, clients, and field execution teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Help monitor engineering tasks to ensure alignment with project schedules, technical standards, and contractual scope.
  • Support the review and tracking of project technical risks, action logs, and engineering issues.
  • Assist in reviewing baseline engineering deliverables, standard drawings, equipment specifications, and single-line diagrams (SLDs) for switchgear, protection relays, and automation systems.
  • Help compile, format, and organize technical submittals, documentation packages, and compliance records for client review.
  • Support change-control tracking by documenting technical scope changes and design deviations.
  • Support the Technical Lead as a secondary contact for technical communications involving internal execution teams, application engineers, and clients.
  • Help organize, prepare materials for, and document key outcomes from technical alignment meetings, customer design reviews, and pre-commissioning discussions.
  • Facilitate smooth information flow between internal stakeholders (Sales, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing) and external partners.
  • Assist in gathering technical data and equipment specifications to support proposal reviews and technical evaluations for power distribution products.
  • Help maintain continuous improvement records, standardizing technical templates and capturing lessons learned across portfolio projects.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline (typically Junior or Senior standing preferred).
  • Basic coursework or foundational knowledge in electrical power systems, circuit analysis, or control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and technical specification sheets.
  • Exposure to electrical distribution equipment (switchgear, circuit breakers), protection and control systems, or digital power automation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and familiarity with engineering documentation control.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude and curiosity for learning complex power system architectures.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills with an interest in customer-facing technical support.
    • Organization: Exceptional attention to detail and strong task-tracking capabilities in a fast-paced setting.
    • Collaboration: Customer-service mindset with a focus on helping cross-functional teams succeed.
    • Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple supporting tasks concurrently across a varied product portfolio.
  • Travel & Schedule
    • Schedule: Standard business hours (Monday to Friday); flexible scheduling available based on academic requirements.
    • Travel: Minimal (up to 10%), primarily for occasional visits to local manufacturing sites, customer design reviews, or project witness tests as learning opportunities dictate.
  • Must be located and able to work in one of the locations the role is posted in.
  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. The company does not provide sponsorship now or in the future.
