Associate Software Engineer

ResMed (Netherlands) · San Diego, United States

About the role

Build digital health products that improve millions of lives.

As an Associate Software Engineer, you'll help create modern digital health experiences that support patients and healthcare providers around the world. You'll join a collaborative engineering team building cloud-native applications and services that power customer-facing healthcare products and platforms. Working alongside engineers, product managers, designers, and cross-functional partners, you'll turn real-world problems into software that is reliable, secure, scalable, and meaningful.

This is an opportunity for someone who is curious, adaptable, and excited by the future of software engineering. We are looking for engineers who want to understand the problem behind the code, take ownership of outcomes, and explore how AI is transforming the way software is designed, built, tested, and operated. If you're eager to learn, enjoy experimenting with new ideas, and want your work to have a direct impact on customers, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and operate reliable, secure, and scalable cloud-native applications and services.
  • Contribute to features from idea through production, helping solve real customer problems and measuring outcomes after release.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools and coding agents to support development, testing, debugging, documentation, code review, and learning.
  • Experiment with emerging AI-enabled engineering workflows and share learnings with teammates.
  • Develop clean, maintainable software and APIs using modern engineering practices.
  • Build applications with performance, security, privacy, reliability, and scalability in mind.
  • Participate in technical design and architecture discussions while learning from experienced engineers.
  • Collaborate with Product, UX, Quality, Security, and Engineering teams to deliver practical customer-focused solutions.
  • Use data, telemetry, and customer feedback to improve products and software experiences.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work, simplify systems, and improve developer productivity.
  • Participate in code reviews, automated testing, deployments, production support, and incident learning activities.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and contribute ideas that improve how the team works.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong programming fundamentals and experience with at least one modern programming language.
  • Understanding of APIs, testing, version control, debugging, and core software engineering principles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, communicate technical ideas, and learn from feedback.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ownership mindset with a genuine interest in understanding customer and business problems.
  • Interest in AI-assisted software engineering and how emerging tools can improve software development.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AWS or another cloud platform.
  • Familiarity with Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Kotlin, Swift, or similar languages.
  • Experience using AI coding tools or agents such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar technologies.
  • Exposure to APIs, automated testing, CI/CD, or modern software delivery practices.
  • Interest in AI, automation, and emerging technologies.

What Sets You Apart

  • Product Curiosity: You want to understand the customer problem and business outcome, not just the technical requirements.
  • Growth Mindset: You actively seek feedback, embrace new ideas, and continually look for opportunities to learn.
  • Ownership: You take responsibility for outcomes and follow through on commitments from start to finish.
  • Experimentation: You enjoy testing new approaches, learning from results, and sharing insights with others.
  • Adaptability: You stay open to changing technologies, evolving ways of working, and new challenges.
  • Collaboration: You build strong relationships, contribute positively to team discussions, and support those around you.
