What you will be doing

Job Summary: The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Supervisor is responsible for leading and executing the plant's reliability-centered preventive maintenance strategy to maximize equipment uptime, asset reliability, and operational efficiency. This role oversees a team of PM technicians responsible for maintaining Hydro aluminum extrusion presses, cast house equipment, age ovens, and paint line operations. The PM Supervisor ensures preventive maintenance activities are completed safely, effectively, and on schedule while driving continuous improvement initiatives that reduce unplanned downtime, improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and support production goals. Acting as a key liaison between maintenance and operations, this position leverages CMMS data, equipment performance metrics, and preventive maintenance best practices to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the preventive maintenance program for Hydro extrusion presses (Presses 81, 82, 83, 84, and 85) to ensure critical systems are inspected, serviced, and maintained.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance activities on hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, accumulators, billet loaders, stretchers, and runout tables.
  • Monitor equipment tolerances, alignment, lubrication schedules, and operating conditions to prevent failures and maintain product quality.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities across cast house operations, including furnaces, casting pits, cooling systems, and saws.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of age ovens, heating systems, temperature controls, circulation equipment, and safety interlocks.
  • Manage preventive maintenance schedules and inspections for paint line equipment, including pretreatment systems, application booths, cure ovens, and conveyors.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of PM technicians while assigning daily priorities and supporting workforce development.
  • Conduct daily planning meetings and coordinate maintenance priorities with production and operations teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and maintenance SOPs.
  • Utilize CMMS systems to create, assign, track, and close preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Analyze maintenance records, PM compliance metrics, and equipment performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Track reliability metrics including MTBF and PM completion rates to improve asset performance and reduce downtime.
  • Partner with storeroom and procurement teams to maintain critical spare parts inventory and support maintenance readiness.
  • Support root cause failure analysis (RCFA) efforts and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.

What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience

  • High school diploma.
  • At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing, metals, aluminum extrusion, or related environments.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with preventative maintenance programs.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatics, mechanical power transmission systems, and industrial electrical troubleshooting.

  • Experience with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and automated production systems.

  • Knowledge of reliability metrics, preventive maintenance optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Experience using CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, Fiix, or similar systems.
