What you will be doing

Job Summary: The Project Engineer is responsible for developing and overseeing plant projects that support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This role leads the design, planning, coordination, and execution of capital and reliability improvement projects that support plant growth, operational excellence, and long-term strategic objectives. Projects will focus on sustaining current plant capabilities, improving reliability, increasing production efficiency, and supporting return-seeking investments. The position works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Corporate resources, contractors, and external vendors to achieve desired results. Experience managing industrial capital projects is required. Exposure to automation systems, Rockwell platforms, and AutoCAD is preferred.

This position will play a key role in executing several major capital and plant improvement initiatives supporting the facility's long-term growth strategy, including:

  • Leading a major capital project to transition the plant from its current anodizing process to a new two-step anodizing process.
  • Managing a furnace modernization project focused on increasing throughput, reliability, and overall plant performance.
  • Supporting a safety-driven Die Shop Caustic System project designed to enhance workplace safety and operational effectiveness.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to fully utilize MS Office Products, ACAD/Solid works software and MS Project.
  • Professional interaction with Employee’s, Contractors, and Vendors at all levels of the organization.
  • Design or modify mechanical and control systems for new or existing equipment, including ability to direct controls engineers in building machine control software to perform proper machine operations.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement, capital, and reliability projects to increase equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and plant performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (maintenance, production, engineering) to implement capital projects, equipment upgrades, reliability improvements, and maintenance programs.

  • Create and maintain documentation for equipment, programs, and procedures.
  • Raise awareness and ensure compliance with Health & Safety objectives and company PPE standards. Attend required training.
  • Provide oversight of the Plant's Automation Program and support automation initiatives as business needs require.

  • Dotted line responsibility to Plant PLC Techs/Specialists with respect to assigning projects, providing direction, and reviewing progress. This will be accomplished through cooperation with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Manage multiple concurrent capital projects through planning, budgeting, contractor coordination, execution, commissioning, and project closeout.

  • Identify equipment reliability opportunities, investigate recurring failures, and develop solutions that reduce downtime and improve operational performance.

What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 3 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of equipment reliability principles, root cause analysis, and downtime reduction initiatives.

  • Experience working within manufacturing, metals, extrusion, heavy industrial, chemical processing, or similar production environments.

  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and industrial equipment troubleshooting.
