Job Overview

Maintenance Team Lead supports the entire maintenance department operations by working with the Management Team and co-workers to improve safety, product quality, run time and prevent machine downtime. This includes maintaining accurate department records, developing and implementing process improvements, training operators, conduct department meetings, and develop and lead Continuous Improvement projects. The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plant production machinery, support equipment, building, and other systems throughout the site to maintain optimum operating conditions and plant productivity. The Maintenance Technician also assists with related upgrades, improvements, and assigned projects as required.

Receives and performs job assignments through work orders, sketches, PM schedules, blueprints or verbal instructions. Follows applicable codes and regulations on work performed.

Responds to emergency requests for repairs/replacements.

Contractor Management. Assist Engineering Manager with the management of outsourced work for individual companies and their employees working on site to including determination and issuance of Amcor work permits and safety review.

Troubleshoot repairs and maintains a variety of production machinery and equipment including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and parts.

Installs, modifies and relocates machinery and equipment and performs fabrication, welding, mechanical, electrical, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, or other maintenance skills.

Repairs and modifies buildings and plant systems as required.

Reads and interprets manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other written installation and repair instructions.

Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance of assigned plant equipment, machinery and systems including gauges, filters, fluid levels, system readings, cooling tower, gas burners, air compressors, chillers, etc.

Requisitions and secures materials, tools, and supplies needed for assignments.

Uses a variety of measuring and testing equipment to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment and systems.

Uses a wide range of shop, hand, and power tools common to the various trades applied.

Maintains specified records, logs and system readings.

Troubleshooting and repair of components such as rolls, shafts, bearings, drive belts, drive chains and gear boxes utilizing basic mechanic’s hand and power tools

Troubleshooting and repair of pumps, valves and piping systems to include pipe threading

Troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic cylinders and controls

Troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic cylinders and controls

Perform a routine setup and operate a drill press, lathe, mill and grinding machine

Perform basic layout, steel fabrication and welding of carbon steel

Possess a knowledge of mechanical blueprint reading

Understanding of basic water treatment principles

Document work completed on MP2 work orders

Follow prescribed environmental, safety and health rules

Complies with sanitation guidelines and good manufacturing practices related to neatness, product cleanliness and personal hygiene.

This position performs hazardous-waste duties and must complete LGQ personnel training per EPA 40 CFR 262.17(a)(7). If duties affect hazardous materials shipping, then DOT 49 CFR 172.704 training also applies. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200(h) HAZCOM training applies where chemical exposure exists.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Ability to read standard or metric rulers and use a chart to convert between the two.

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to train on an as needed basis

Mechanical knowledge of moving equipment a plus

Knowledge and Experience

High level of experience and proficiency in the function, mechanics, and operation of all Maintenance equipment

Combination of technical training equivalent to that generally obtained in a two-year college or apprenticeship program.

Minimum 5 years manufacturing work experience and/or 1 year as Maintenance Technician ll, & training in

Process Control & Instrumentation (temperature, flow, pressure, level, etc.

Power Distribution (480 Vac & below)

Machine Control

Education and Certifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 55 lbs

Ability to push/pull 20-55 lbs

Continuous standing and walking

Exposure to noise above 85 decibels

Exposure to solvent odors and odors created in the melting process of manufacturing plastic films

Employee is required to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hand and arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
